The design of <Crush> aims to blur the boundaries between joy and grief, life and death. While on the surface, it may appear to be a heartwarming romance, the book delves deeper into the themes of loss and the afterlife. As an artist, I wanted to explore the delicate balance between these opposing forces, using symbolic elements such as mirrors and feathers to create a sense of ambiguity and mystery. The mirror shows a happy family scene, but the feathers that float outside of it suggest a deeper, spiritual realm. I want the reader to question: Is the imagery in the mirror real? Or is it just a imagination of the protagonist? The use of feathers on the content page reinforces this concept, creating a bird's eye view of the unknown world. Through my design, I hope to inspire contemplation and reflection on the delicate balance between joy and grief throughout the book.
